You’re Not Inconsistent—Your Nervous System Is Just Doing Its Job

Jan 11, 2026

So many of the students in my programs tell me that they just can't be consistent in their psychic development or nervous system regulation practices, and this makes them feel completely defeated.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated with yourself for not sticking to routines, finishing projects, or “having enough discipline,” I want to offer you a completely different perspective like I offer to my students: you are not inconsistent. Your nervous system is simply functioning at the capacity it has right now. And that is not a flaw—it’s information.

Here’s what I mean:

When we think about discipline, we often imagine a willpower muscle that we can flex at any time, and sometimes we can, but then later notice that the willpower wears off after a few days or weeks. But your nervous system—the intricate network that manages your stress, emotions, and energy—is the real driver behind how much you can do, when you can do it, and how you respond to life. If your nervous system is regulated, balanced, and resilient, you naturally show up with focus, creativity, and follow-through. But if it’s still holding onto trauma, stress, or overwhelm, even your best intentions can feel like a struggle.

Think of your nervous system like the bandwidth of a Wi-Fi signal. If the signal is strong, everything flows seamlessly. If it is weak, connections drop, pages load slowly, and tasks take longer or feel impossible. Trying to “push through” with discipline alone is like demanding a weak Wi-Fi signal to stream 4K video—it’s not realistic, and it only creates frustration. This is where most psychics, mediums, and intuitives go wrong. They thing they have to get another "activation," for more practice readings, or meditate longer. If your nervous system is frozen or dysregulated, doing these things actually make it worse.

Here’s where it gets beautiful: by learning to regulate your nervous system, you’re not “training discipline” in the traditional sense. You’re creating the conditions for your natural consistency, flow, and intuition to emerge. When your nervous system is calm and grounded, your psychic senses, intuition, and creative energy operate effortlessly. You start to realize that your “inconsistency” wasn’t laziness—it was your system signaling that it needed support.

So, what does this look like in practice?

  • Notice your limits without judgment. When you can’t push through, see it as data, not failure. This is your body telling you that it does not feel safe and therefore no letting anything new happen.

  • Prioritize nervous system healing over productivity. Meditation, grounding, somatic exercises, or even gentle movement can help your system expand its capacity, as long as they are not doing in force and are done to bring safety back to the body.

  • Honor your intuitive cues. Your body and intuition will tell you when to act and when to rest—trust them. Rest is a big one and it took me years to be able to lay down for a nap when I felt tired and not lay there with shame and guilt stealing my sleepiness.

  • Flow over force. Discipline is overrated. Flow comes naturally when your nervous system is supported. You will know you are in flow when you are able to just be who you are and do what you want and there is no inner dialogue telling you your wrong, bad, or stupid for slowing down, accompanied with tightness in the body.

You are not broken. You are not lazy. You are not inconsistent. You are just working with a nervous system that is holding space for everything you’ve been through, and as you heal and regulate it, your natural rhythm and consistency will appear—not because of discipline, but because your system finally has the bandwidth to function at its full potential.

Your nervous system is your superpower. Treat it as such, and watch your life—and your intuitive abilities—start to flow effortlessly.

Remember, your nervous system is not working against you. It is the best friend you’ve ever had—constantly scanning, adapting, and protecting you in ways you may not even realize. Its only job has ever been to keep you safe. When you slow down, pull back, lose momentum, or can’t “stay consistent,” it isn’t because you lack discipline or commitment––it’s because your nervous system is responding to perceived safety, capacity, and threat based on everything it has lived through. What looks like inconsistency is often intelligence—your system conserving energy, preventing overload, and protecting you from pushing beyond what feels safe. As your nervous system heals and expands its capacity, consistency doesn’t have to be forced. It becomes natural and therefore flow replaces effort, and you begin to move through life, have stronger intuition, and new creative ideas––not by discipline, but by safety.
